Customer purchases a smart energy thermal solar hot water heating system

The customer purchased the solar water heating system for the financial returns advertised by the solar company. This included a payback period of 10 years. Consumer reclaim made a claim on behalf of the customer against Santander. They provided expert evidence that clearly demonstrated that the solar system could not possibly provide the financial returns advertised by smart energy. Santander rejected the claim and instructed solicitors to defend the claim which consumer reclaim panel lawyers issued in the county court. The legal proceedings resulted in a settlement of £6,218.44 for the customer.
